terms

these terms govern your use of nusic: the website at nusic.com, every artist page on it, and the tools that come with them (together, "nusic"). nusic is run by us ("nusic", "we", "us"). by visiting nusic, applying for a page or using one, you agree to these terms. if you don't agree, please don't use nusic.

what nusic is

nusic gives verified musicians (artists, producers, writers, managers and others who work in music) a free page at nusic.com/theirname for their music, credits, links, shows and merch. anyone can visit a public page. only verified people can have one.

who can apply

• you must be 16 or older.
• you must apply as yourself, or for an act you're part of and allowed to represent. one page per person or act.
• everything you tell us when you apply must be true.

applying and verification

• you apply with your name, email, a password, a photo, a 60-second video recorded in nusic (your "tape") and links to your music and your instagram or tiktok.
• a person at nusic reviews every application to check that it's really you and that you really work in music. verification is our decision, and we don't have to give a reason.
• while you're in review, the username you chose is held for you. if you're not verified, it's released and you can apply again after the wait we tell you about (usually 90 days).

your username and badge

once you're verified, your nusic.com username is yours for as long as nusic exists, and we don't take usernames back for inactivity. if you delete your account you have 30 days to restore it; after that your username can be claimed by someone else. the verified badge means a person at nusic reviewed your application. we can remove a badge or a username for impersonation, fraud, infringing someone's rights, misleading us, or abuse of nusic, and we'll tell you why unless the law stops us.

your content

• you own what you put on your page: your photos, words, artwork and links. you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, display and format it, and to show it in previews of your page, for as long as it's on nusic.
• you confirm you have the rights to everything you post, including photos and artwork, and that it doesn't break anyone else's rights or the law.
• when you list a song you worked on, or an artist you work with, it must be true. people you list as your artists, managers or a&rs may be asked to confirm it.
• if you add someone else's name or photo (for example an artist on your roster), you confirm you're allowed to.

plaques and charts

plaques (gold, platinum, diamond) and chart positions only appear on a song after you send us proof and a person at nusic has checked it. "confirmed by nusic" means we checked the proof you sent; it isn't a statement by any certifying body or chart, and nusic isn't connected to or endorsed by them. you confirm everything you send us is true. we can remove a plaque or chart position at any time, including if it turns out to be wrong.

your tape

your tape is private. we use it to review your application. if you opted in, we may also use it, or clips of it, to show what nusic is; you can turn that off at any time in your account and we'll stop using it in anything new. if it's already been featured somewhere, email help@nusic.com and we'll take it down.

what you can't do

• pretend to be someone else, or misrepresent who made, produced or owns music.
• post anything illegal, hateful, harassing, sexually explicit, or that infringes someone's rights.
• link to malware, scams, or anything designed to mislead people.
• get around verification, hold usernames you don't intend to use, or sell, rent or transfer a page or username.
• use bots, scripts, crawlers or any other automated tool to visit nusic, or to copy, collect or index anything on it, unless we've agreed to it in writing. search engines are welcome to index public artist pages, following our robots.txt.
• copy nusic's content or data in bulk, or use it to build a database, a competing service, or to train or improve any ai or machine learning model, without our written permission.
• tamper with how nusic works, test or probe its security, flood it with requests, or try to get into any part of nusic, anyone's account, or the systems behind it without permission.

other people's services

music players on nusic are embedded from the service a song is on (such as spotify, apple music, youtube, soundcloud or deezer) and follow that service's own terms and privacy policy. links to other sites are there for convenience; including them isn't an endorsement, we have no control over those sites and we aren't responsible for them. song details and artwork come from the people who add them and from those services, and belong to their owners.

our name and marks

"nusic", our logo, the verified badge and the look of nusic belong to us. you may not use them without our written permission, except to say truthfully that you're on nusic and link to your page. other names and marks on nusic (artists, labels, services, certifying bodies, charts) belong to their owners, and showing them doesn't mean they endorse nusic.

if something goes wrong

we can hide or remove content, take a page offline, or suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts nusic or other people at risk. if you think we got it wrong, email hello@nusic.com and a person will look again.

no warranty

nusic and everything on it is provided "as is" and "as available". we work to keep it accurate and running, but we don't promise that it will always be available, error-free or secure, or that information on it (including song details, release dates, plaques and chart positions, much of which comes from users and other services) is accurate, complete or current. to the extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, including of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. we may change, add or remove features at any time; if we ever add paid features, they'll be optional and we'll tell you first.

liability

to the extent the law allows, neither nusic nor anyone who works with us is liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for loss of data, income or reputation, arising from nusic, any interruption or failure of it, or anything other people do on it, even if we were told it might happen. our total liability to you for anything relating to nusic is limited to us$100. nothing in these terms limits liability that the law doesn't allow us to limit, or your rights as a consumer where you live.

your responsibility

to the extent the law allows, you agree to cover us for claims, losses and costs that arise from content you post, information you send us (including plaques and chart claims), or your breach of these terms.

leaving

you can delete your account at any time from your account settings. your page comes down straight away. you can restore it within 30 days; after that your content is deleted and your username can be claimed by someone else. we can close nusic, or your account, with notice where we reasonably can.

changes

we may update these terms. if a change matters, we'll email verified members before it takes effect and change the date at the top. using nusic after a change means you accept the new terms.

disputes

if you have a problem with nusic, please email hello@nusic.com first; most things can be sorted out quickly. nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under the law where you live.
